Feel free to arrive at our host hotel on Thursday. Your reservation will be set for all three nights in the same room... no moving across the hall on Thursday when the rest of us arrive. Our early arrival option allows you to start enjoying your vacation right away, and take an extra day to get acclimated to the time change and shake off that jet lag.

Welcome Toast & Cocktail Party

Welcome to Rome, drenched in history, culture and food! It’s no wonder Rome is one of OUTbound’s favorite cities in the world. Once settled into your room at our host hotel, join us up on the rooftop terrace for our welcome cocktail party overlooking the famed Eternal City and kick off our Italian Odyssey Cruise! There’s nothing like the first day of vacation. Spend the evening with your hosts, catching up with old friends and meeting new OUTbounders as we embark on our Roman Holiday and tour of all things Italian. Benvenuti a Roma!

03
Vatican Tour & Gladiator Party

Today’s included tour will take us to Vatican City. With our Reserved Entrance, you’ll skip the line and head straight into the Vatican to explore the museums with our expert LGBTQ+ guide. Be mesmerized by Michelangelo’s world famous Sistine Chapel and Last Judgement, visit the Raphael Rooms and hear the stories behind the renowned “School of Athens”. Headsets allow you to hear the stories your art historian guide will tell as they bring these works to life. Tonight, let your inner Spartacus roar as we host our Gladiator party at one of Rome’s best know gay clubs.

04
Rome City Tour

Today we’ll check out of our host hotel and begin our full-day included tour of the Eternal City. Our stops will include a visit to Piazza Navona, once a massive Roman circus, and the nearby Pantheon, the largest unsupported dome in the world and home of Raphael’s tomb. Our tour will also make stops at the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps along the way. Finally, we’ll explore the Roman Forum and Capitoline Hill, seeing the House of the Vestal Virgins and walking along Via Sacre before skipping the line for our tour inside the famed Colosseum. We finish at the coastal port of Civitavecchia where we’ll board our ship.

GAY ROME

Rome’s main ‘gay street’, Via di San Giovanni in Laterano, which is just steps away from the Colosseum, with a few bars and more gay venues in the neighborhood. This area around the Colosseum has been a meeting point for the gay community since the 1960s and in 2007 it un-officially was given the name ‘Gay Street’. There are a few gay bars that line this street as well as gay friendly shops and cafes. You’ll find a friendly and welcoming gay scene in Rome, although it’s smaller and more discrete than you might expect. There are more clubs and late-night events than the ‘typical’ gay bars. Like with most of Europe, the gay scene in Rome tends to pick up later at night. Gay Rome is one of those cities that everyone dreams of visiting. The Eternal City is a vibrant mix of ruins, art, history, street life, and culture… an exhilarating experience that thrills, inspired and never, ever disappoints. Rome is one of those cities that has a place on nearly every traveler’s bucket list. Few cities in the world mesh modern with historical in the way that Rome can. It’s a major metropolitan city, and with that comes a huge population of LGBTQ+ residents. Italy as a whole is considered to be gay friendly with an increasingly liberal attitude from the public. We promise you’ll enjoy your time in Rome, whether this will be your first visit or one of many return trips. There’s no place like Rome!
