Welcome to inviting Wellington, the capital of New Zealand, hailed by many as the coolest little capital in the world. Located at the southernmost tip of New Zealand’s North Island on the Cook Straight, Wellington’s history is a rich collection of architecture, from classic weatherboard wooden cottages to the clean lines of art deco. The city’s neoclassical Parliament House stands out for its history and cultural significance. The city hosts an array of arts and cultural institutions as well as its incredible waterfront promenade right in the heart of the city.
Christchurch is the largest city on New Zealand’s South Island. Named after Christ Church College in Oxford by English pilgrims from Canterbury, it retains much of its original British flavor, from the Gothic Revival cathedral to the punting excursion boats on the tranquil Avon River. The city also embraces another English tradition... it is home to so many green parks that it has been nicknamed the ‘Garden City’. Its lush Botanic Gardens is home to plants from six continents, a rock garden and a water garden of lilies and irises.
Dunedin was founded on the famed Otago Harbour. At the heart of the city, Dunedin is home to New Zealand’s first university, built in 1871. This lively college town is one of the South Island’s cultural capitals. Neighboring Port Chalmers has a thriving arts scene, inspired by its setting. Across the water, the distinctive Harbour Cone summit rises on the Otago Peninsula. Together, this unspoiled region is a breathtaking vista of mountains and sea, and home to seals, penguins and seabirds, including the only mainland colony of albatross in the world.
Today we’ll begin our journey across the Tasman Sea, named after the first European spice trader to arrive on Tasmania. You’ll ‘Cross the Ditch’ as you sail today. Admire the views and enjoy your days at sea pampering yourself in the Sanctum Salon, enjoying one of the many shows or activities onboard, or relaxing on the pool deck with friends and cocktails. The day is all about you and is yours to enjoy as you want!
Today we'll cruise across the historic Bass Strait, where the journey itself becomes part of the experience. As the Tasmanian coastline slips away, settle into the relaxed rhythm of life at sea and enjoy your OUTbound family onboard. Unwind on the pool deck with friends and a cocktail in hand, or treat yourself to another fantastic treatment in the Sanctum Spa. This evening, plan a special night out in one of the specialty restaurants or take in the show in the Cabaret Lounge... the perfect ending to a memorable crossing.
Melbourne has been called the world’s most livable city. It enjoys a scenic setting on the large bay of Port Phillip. Soon after Queen Victoria declared it a city of the Crown in 1847, the rush to find gold in its rivers made it one of the world’s largest and wealthiest cities. Today, it is celebrated as Australia’s cultural capital of the arts and exudes a rich and lively British flair, from its narrow shopping lanes to the fanciful Victorian buildings along Collins Street. Tonight, enjoy Melbourne’s vibrant nightlife as we enjoy a rare overnight in this incredible city.
Melbourne and the state of Victoria are a lot of things... almost too many to list, which is why we get to enjoy another fantastic day in this fabulous city. Venture into Melbourne’s hidden spaces and iconic streets to discover tantalizing food and wine, a dynamic arts scene and almost limitless shopping districts. On your second day in Melbourne, you can choose to delve into Australia’s culture capital, marvel at incredibly accessible wildlife encounters or see the spectacular coastline and the Great Ocean Road.
Today marks the final sea day of our cruise as we sail from Melbourne toward Sydney. It’s a chance to savor the last moments at sea, celebrate the time we've spent with old friends and new, and enjoy the vibrant sense of our OUTbound community onboard. Share a final cocktail, relive favorite memories, or take in one final show. As Sydney draws closer, there’s an added buzz of excitement as we look forward to celebrating love, pride, and diversity at the Sydney Mardi Gras 50th Anniversary Celebration.
Welcome to world famous Sydney, home of the iconic Sydney Opera House! Darling Harbor and the smaller Circular Quay port are hubs of waterside life in Sydney, with the arched Harbour Bridge and esteemed Royal Botanic Garden nearby. Sydney Tower’s outdoor platform, the Skywalk, offers 360-degree views of the city and suburbs. We’re here all weekend, so get out and explore hidden restaurants, historic alleys, stunning coastlines and natural beauty. Wildlife, nightlife and the good life... Sydney has it all!
Today we end our cruise in Sydney, arguably one of the most captivating cities in the world. As any OUTbounder knows, we never say ‘Goodbye’, only ‘Until We See You Again’ on another OUTbound vacation of a lifetime. The Cabaret Lounge onboard the Azamara Pursuit is where our OUTbound entertainers shine on stage! The main theater features amazing performers in an intimate, engaging atmosphere. A mix of favorites and new talent makes for an unforgettable LGBTQ+ onboard experience. But it doesn’t stop there. The Cabaret Lounge is where we’ll have all of our OUTbound family moments, from staff introductions to final goodbyes. Each night we’ll gather to share stories of the day’s adventures and look forward together to what’s yet to come.
Located mid-ship on Deck 5, The Den is the perfect spot to enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail while listening to the sounds of a classical grand pianist. The Den features a flat-screen TV and full bar, making it the ideal place to unwind with friends, watch special events or simply sit around the tall tables and exchange stories with your fellow OUTbounders. Enjoy a glass of wine or a mixed drink while the talented pianist entertains you with soothing background music. The Den is also the place to get inspired with travel tools that transport you to all corners of the world with travel books, guides, and destination-focused activities.
The Living Room, located forward on Deck 10, is a fantastic space for grabbing a drink with friends and enjoying panoramic views of the gorgeous New Zealand and Australian coastlines. Late night is when our featured DJs spin the latest dance tracks along with your classic favorites. The Living Room is also the place where our guests take their turn on stage during karaoke nights. And OUTbound‘s fantastic theme nights let you channel your inner dancing queen and be your fabulous, silly self by dressing up as much as you want!
This library is one of the quiet jewels of our ship, a peaceful and beautifully appointed space for reading or relaxing after dinner. Browse the collection or simply relax in the tranquil atmosphere. But the library goes beyond just paper, with interactive digital tabletops available where you can make your own postcards and post to social media to share your OUTbound adventures with your friends back home. The library is also home to the impressive Inspiration Center, a digital way to explore the world with OUTbound and gain inspiration for your next voyage.
The Mosaic Café is the coffee bar at the heart of Deck 5 serving cakes and light snacks. With the couple of small shops in this area, it has a vibrant village square vibe and is a great place to meet friends for a coffee and watch the world go by. The onboard coffee corner may very well become your favorite spot on the entire ship. It’s also one of the most stylish places, too. You’ll find all your favorite coffee drinks here, and of course everything is made to order just the way you like. Whether you’re looking for your favorite iced latte, a La Rica or Lavazza Decaf specialty coffee or exotic herbal tea, Mosaic Café is the place.
Located just outside the main restaurant, this busy bar is a favorite gathering place for pre- and post-dinner drinks and conversation. Meet up with your fellow OUTbounders for a drink to talk about the day’s adventures before sitting down to dinner. Bar service includes a full selection of fine wines, mixed drinks, and premium spirits… plus the entertaining banter of our friendly bartenders. The Discoveries Lounge is the place to come to be social and connect with old friends and new.
You’ll be hard-pressed to find a more extensive collection of limited production, small label and rare vintage wines anywhere on the high seas. And with vintages from France to California, and Argentina to South Africa, you’re sure to find a wine to suit your palate and your OUTbound journey. The knowledgeable sommeliers can help you select the perfect wines for your evening meal, and be sure to join the Wine Corner gatherings... perfect for discovering and enjoying new wines and benefiting from the thoughtful guidance of a knowledgeable sommelier.
In the main restaurant, you’ll discover the world through dishes and flavors from the places we visit. Of course, you'll also have a wide variety of nightly selections such as filet mignon with black truffle sauce. With its elegant yet lively dining and décor, it’s easy to see why this restaurant is the culinary heart of our ship and a hands-down favorite. Choose to have a romantic night at a table for two, or ask to be seated as part of a larger group of fellow OUTbounders... which we highly recommend!
At Aqualina, you’ll find some of Italy’s most authentic dishes. Pastas made from scratch, traditional and authentic recipes, and scrumptious vegetarian dishes that make sure there’s something for everyone. Savor a traditional Spaghetti Bolognese, enjoy an Eggplant Parmesan or a hearty Rigatoni Pomodoro with fresh veggies. But save room. You won’t be able to say no to famous desserts like sorrento lemon liqueur mousse and hazelnut chocolate soufflé. The chefs love to be inspired, so after an on-shore visit to a local market, you can expect a delectable dish so authentic, you’ll feel like you’re still in town. Aqualina is a specialty restaurant onboard and can be enjoyed for $50 per person, per meal.
When it comes to steaks, cooked to perfection, Prime C is the place to be. You’ll also have your choice of crab and lobster cakes with fennel-aioli, herb-coated rack of lamb, duck confit and Chilean sea bass... all paired with savory sides. And last, but certainly not least, sample Azamara’s famous mini cinnamon-sugar donuts with dipping sauces for dessert. But at Prime C, you’re in for more than delectable dining. Expect a great evening with stunning views and lush décor. And of course, the company can’t be beat. Prime C is a specialty restaurant onboard and can be enjoyed for $50 per person, per meal.
Windows Café offers quick and casual dining, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Take in the fresh breeze at an outdoor table and relax in the easy atmosphere or enjoy your meal inside at any of the flexible seating options. Have your omelette made-to-order, try a selection of meats carved right off the bone or create the perfect salad just the way you like it. The delicious selections change daily. Choose from fresh sushi, stir-fry and pasta, salads, smoked lox and other cold fish, a carving station and of course, desserts. Windows Café is also the place to pick up a quick snack or piece of fruit when you get a craving during the day.
Adjacent to the Windows Café, the Sunset Veranda is a welcoming outdoor patio with covered and open-air seating. It's the perfect place for dining alfresco, enjoying a refreshing drink, taking in the sights of your favorite port, or simply watching the world sail by. For our OUTbounders looking to dine while watching the sunset, the Sunset Veranda is right out the back door, with a stylish look and stunning views.
The Patio is many things... casual “pool grill” by day, then fine tablecloths and flickering candles set the mood for a sit-down al fresco dining experience by night. Taste your way around New Zealand and Australia with exclusive personalized dishes using local flavors of the cities and towns we’ll visit on our cruise... served by our professional wait staff. And for a little touch of whimsy, treat yourself to a self-serve frozen yogurt from the self-serve station, Swirl & Top. With a variety of flavors and your choice of toppings, it’s the perfect way to cool off during the day or end your evening meal.
Staffed by professional aestheticians and therapists, the Sanctum Spa is an oasis of tranquility. Choose from an extensive menu of services including state of the art skin care and restorative facials. Spoil yourself with special treatments like hot stone therapy, deep tissue, Swedish and other exotic massage treatments from around the world. Flight Ideas
Since our New Zealand & Australia Cruise starts in Auckland and ends in Sydney, flights can be a little tricky. Many OUTbounders are booking a ‘Multi-City’ ticket when looking for flights. The ‘Multi-City’ option can be found on most airline’s websites where you would choose between a one-way or round trip flight or under the ‘Advanced Search’ link. With the ‘Multi-City’ option, you’ll be able to enter your departure airport, arrival in Auckland (AKL) and then a departure from Sydney (SYD) back to your original airport. The multi-city option will often be cheaper than purchasing two one-way tickets separately.
The airline you choose is completely up to you. While flights are not included, we’re always happy to help narrow down the best flight options with you. Simply give us a call or send us an email, letting us know where you’ll be flying from, if you have a preferred airline (based on frequent flyer miles or credit card points), and what class of service you typically like to book.
Getting to the Ship
Our ship will be docked at the Queens Wharf Cruise Terminal.
The exact address of the Queens Wharf Cruise Terminal is: 89 Quay Street, Auckland CBD, Auckland 1010, New Zealand.
The Queens Wharf Cruise Terminal complex is fairly large. As we get a little closer to our sail date, our ship, the Azamara Pursuit, will be assigned a specific dock. We’ll update this section with the most current dock location once that has been assigned.
Boarding
Boarding officially begins at 1:00pm local time on Monday, February 14, 2028, but you are free to arrive at our ship at any time after 12:00pm, drop your luggage with one of the many porters, head through a quick security checkpoint, and then relax with some light refreshments in the dock facility until pre-boarding begins. Once pre-boarding opens, you’ll be able to register at one of the many gate agent counters, board the ship and participate in a quick muster station and security information session, and then begin exploring the gorgeous Azamara Pursuit.
The Windows Café on Deck 9 will be open to grab a bite and start getting to know your fellow OUTbounders!
Remember, your transfers from our host hotel in Auckland to our ship docked at the Queens Wharf are included with your hotel package!
Our Host Hotel In Auckland
For those of you who are getting a jump start on your vacation and arriving early in Auckland to kick your jet lag, see a little of the city and start getting to know your fellow OUTbounders, we have you covered. We’ll be announcing our host hotel in Auckland in just a few months. This will be your home for our time in New Zealand’s largest city before we start our cruise.
We’ll send an email to all our booked guests once our host hotel is open for reservations.
Theme Nights & Parties
Nothing makes an OUTbound event more fun than our THEME NIGHTS! This is your chance to express yourself with a fun t-shirt, wild wig or full blown costume. Feel free to show us what you’ve got! As always with OUTbound, you are welcome to participate as much or as little as you like, it’s up to you!

Take A Picture!
Before heading out on a big trip, most travelers focus on packing the right clothes, confirming reservations, and making sure your passports are in hand. But seasoned OUTbounders know there’s another small step that can make a big difference in a pinch… snapping a few key photos before you leave home.
These quick snapshots take less than two minutes to capture but can save hours of stress if luggage gets lost, travel apps glitch, or important documents go missing.
Passport
A clear photo of the main passport page can make it faster to get a replacement at an embassy or consulate if your passport is lost. It’s best to keep this image in a secure, password-protected file or cloud app.
Prescription Medications & Labels
OUTbounders who take medication should take a picture of both your pills and the prescription labels. If your medications get lost or you run out, having the generic drug name on hand can make it much easier to refill while traveling.
Boarding Pass & Travel Documents
Travel apps sometimes glitch, and wifi isn’t always reliable at the airport. A screenshot of your boarding pass ensures it’s available offline when needed. The same goes for any hotel confirmations, train tickets, or tour reservations booked outside of your OUTbound trip.
Luggage Contents
Snapping a photo of everything packed in your suitcase before zipping it shut can be invaluable if your bags are delayed or lost. Airlines and insurance companies often ask for detailed lists of contents when processing a claim. A quick image can serve as proof of what was inside your bags and speed up any claims you might need to make.
As we all know, travel can be unpredictable, but your smartphone camera (something that’s already in your pocket and doesn’t require any extra cost) offers one of the easiest safeguards. Taking a few extra photos before you depart is a small habit that can prevent big headaches… and help you stay calm when plans don’t go exactly as expected.

Tips for our onboard ship staff are included with your OUTbound cruise from New Zealand to Australia.
Tips for our tour guides in Auckland and Sydney or for any of the shore excursions from our ship during the cruise are not included and are optional. At the end of each day’s guided tour, you’ll have the chance to tip our guide and driver whatever you feel your experience was worth.
If you feel that any individual in particular, either onboard our ship or during one of your tours, has gone above and beyond in making your experience something extra special, we encourage you to reach out to them directly and let them know how much you appreciated their service during our time together.
What Money Should You Bring?
New Zealand
New Zealand’s unit of currency is the Dollar (abbreviated as NZD$). All major credit cards are accepted in New Zealand, with Visa and Mastercard the most widely used. Many retailers and restaurants will accept Apple Pay.
Australia
Australia’s official currency is also called the Dollar, although to reduce confusion the symbol used is AUS$. As in New Zealnd, credit cards are also widely accepted in addition to cash, with many retailers accepting Apple Pay and other forms of contactless payment. American Express is not as widely accepted as Visa or MasterCard.
You can also use your credit or debit card as well throughout our trip, as credit cards are widely accepted everywhere in both of the countries we will visit. However, remember that there will be additional bank charges upon usage and even a foreign transaction fee in some cases, depending on your bank.
Will I need a Visa to enter New Zealand or Australia?
New Zealand
Canada, EU, UK and USA passport holders need to apply for the NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority). This must be done before boarding arriving in New Zealand. You can apply through New Zealand’s travel website…
All other nationalities should check for immigration requirements.
Australia

What Power Converters Will I Need?
Our ship, the Azamara Onward, has two (2) EU 220v Type C outlets and two (2) US 110v Standard outlets in each stateroom. Feel free to bring a USB adapter with multiple outlets so that you can charge several of your devices at once.
If you are joining us early in Auckland or staying after in Sydney, our host hotels use Type I power outlets, which feature three flat pins in a triangular pattern (two angled and one vertical). The standard voltage is 230/240V at 50Hz, requiring a Type I plug adapter for international visitors. US and Canada devices (120V) often need a voltage converter, while UK and EU devices may only need a plug adapter if they support 230V. These outlets are different from the Type A and B outlets common in North America, so you will need a plug adapter to charge your devices.
Travel Insurance
If we’ve learned anything over these last couple of years, it’s that the world can be an uncertain place at times. While you’re never required to buy travel insurance, it’s a good idea and we recommend all OUTbounders consider protecting your hard-earned vacation money. The price of your coverage will depend on a few factors, including the cost of the trip, what state you live in, how long before the trip departs, and if you have any pre-existing or underlying health conditions, to name a few.
